Wallet & accounts
Your wallet, your accounts#
Your wallet is your own address. Money outside the venue stays in your own HyperCore account. Inside the venue, each account holds its own cash, its own positions and its own profit and loss; margin and liquidation read that account alone. A new wallet has no accounts: the first act that needs one opens it.
Nothing leaves your HyperCore wallet except an amount a button printed and you signed. Fees, holding costs and liquidations never reach into your wallet. Withdraw releases what the account does not need behind its positions, and goes back to your HyperCore wallet (daily limits in Fees & liquidation).
Three account kinds#
- Options — options you open on the Option tab, with no perp behind them.
- Protect — one perp and its one option swap, opened together.
- Earn — one maker's quoting (TLP or Custom) and the positions it builds up against traders. A maker holds no perp.
A name is the kind and a number (Options 1, Protect 1, Earn 1), given once.
Margin: one closed form, summed per account#
Every sold option is margined per asset, as its oracle venue does it:
- BTC: to open, the larger of (15 % − how far out of the money) and 10 %, times spot, plus the option's mark; to hold, 7.5 % of spot plus the mark.
- HYPE: 30 % / 25 % to open, 18 % to hold, each plus the mark.
Bought options count as collateral at their mark. The mark is the oracle venue's price on the side you could close at — its bid for a bought option, its ask for a sold one — with broken quote points skipped. The legs add up per account.
Perps follow Hyperliquid per asset: BTC up to 40× (2.5 % to open, 1.25 % to hold), HYPE up to 10× (10 % / 5 %), on the account's whole equity including its options. In a Protect account the perp covers the sold option up to its size, so only any excess is margined.
Protect: push your liquidation price away#
On the Protect tab you choose the asset, long or short, your margin and leverage. Then:
- Liq. price — where you want to be liquidated instead (type it or drag it on the chart). It is the real liquidation price: where equity meets maintenance.
- Target price and Target ROE — where you think the price is going and the return you want there (the default is 90 % of what a plain perp at the same leverage would make).
- Days protected — a result, not an input: how long the account's spare margin pays the swap's holding cost at the costliest price before liquidation. Under 30 days you see ⚠; it is never refused for that alone.
The venue searches strikes × durations for the longest-lasting premium-neutral swap that holds your Liq. price and gives the Target ROE at the Target price: on a long it buys a put and sells a call (the reverse on a short). Neither leg is bigger than the perp; every leg is at least $1 of premium. If no swap can hold your Liq. price, you get the nearest one that can, with ⚠.
The perp and the swap open as one signed request: the perp fills on HyperCore and the contract opens both option legs in the same transaction, each from its single best maker, inside your slippage limits. If any part fails, everything is cancelled and your margin goes back.

You need USDC in your own HyperCore testnet account. One signature moves it to the venue (HyperCore's usdSend to the address the venue serves — read it from /chain/deposits, never type it). A new wallet's first act is connect(); an account is opened by mintAccount(kind) (0 Options, 1 Protect, 3 Earn); deposit(account, usd) moves cash in. All are signed intents.
